It was an unusually warm MLK Day in the ATL and cyclists took advantage of the weather. Around 250 joined MACC in beautiful downtown Decatur for a ride to the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change in downtown Atlanta. Several cycling clubs/organizations (MACC, Velo Atlanta, MOBB ATL, GPS, Aztec Cycles, Dream Team, Outback Bikes, ACF…) and many individuals rode as one to show unity and brotherhood amongst cyclist of all ages, race and genders. MLK would have been proud of our unity; however, there is still work to be done in the fight for civil and equal rights. In the words of guest speaker Julie Borders "we must continue to rise up" until the dream is fully realized.
After Julie's brief speech and a photo op we wrapped up the visit to the center with our signature ONE LOVE salute!
